The Information Center (Department of Information)
is the department of the
National Institute of Chemical Safety
that was established in 1 January, 1998
The establishment of the Department was neccessary due to the recommendations of Agenda 21, and the regulations of the Hungarian Public Act No XXV of 2000 on Chemical Safety.
Within the Main Department of Information, the Information Center co-operates with the Health Toxicological Information Service (HTIS).
The tasks of the Department defined in the Public Act on Chemical Safety:
– Collecting international information pertaining to chemical safety, translating information into Hungarian, and making these available to all organisations, distributers and users that play a role in chemical safety
– Collecting, analysing and evaluating national data, and communicating its conclusions drawn from international and national data to the Inter-ministerial Committee on Chemical Safety, and other administrative bodies
– Providing data exchange pertaining to dangerous substances with member states of the EU and of OECD, with international organizations and information centers
